Neal / O'Neall, Captain James

b:ca. 1736, d:Feb. 7, 1821, 85y, son of Hugh and Anne (Cox) O'Neall, husband of 1) Hannah Hardin and 2) Mary Phelps. His original grave marker, a ledger (a flat stone laid over the grave), was unearthed in Tavenner Cemetery on Saturday, August 15, 2009, by Robert "Bob" Enoch. The inscription reads: "Sacred to the memory of CAPT JAMES NEAL Soldier of the Revolution who died 7 Feb. 1821 age 85 years". Capt. Neal's remains (along with the remains of his son John and daughter-in-law Ephlis Hook from Holliday Cemetery) were relocated to Mt. Olivet Cemetery November 1, 1916, by his great grandson Dr. Daniel R. Neal, Jr. A new large family stone was erected in Mt. Olivet at that time.1
